@ DeSad: Just personal taste, I guess. I prefer to just use the beach texture for sea coasts.

@Mixx: I have made several variants on the basic Romania lowlands textures to achieve various results. There are autumn textures with the crops replaced by bare, brown earth. I have moved the yellow and brown fields around on the "summer" textures. And I have made a texture with blue " drainage canals" which you see in the Dvina screenshot.

This is an attempt to portray the vast areas of drained marshland in Belarus. There are extensive areas in which drainage canals have been dug to allow the land to be made drier and used for farming.

I am not 100% happy with the texture; but it is more satisfactory than just using ordinary tiles that do not indicate a difference from the normal land.

I used a Romania tile and cut and pasted the canals from Compans' Dutch tile onto it and then tidied it up a little.

I also made a "green" version of the standard Slovakia "country" tile so it looked better with the Romania tiles I use.

I am now working with a new, more powerful computer and anticipate having a beta version of the "Army Group Centre" map available to download by the end of February or sooner. :-)

The map will be ready in 4 or 5 days, maybe less.

I am interested in testing for download and installation problems before generally announcing the map on the English language boards. If anyone is interested in a "preview", please let me know. :-)

Well , I dare also to d/l your map. Installed in my 4.10 SASmodact ver.2.5 with Boomer's object pack successfully, it loads well in FMB, mission there created saved and loaded OK. The map of the region involved is undoubtedly needed.
Just first impressions and my 2pences:
You probably used auto population tool, otherwise I cannot imagine how you can achieve that population density, lol.
As it concerns the colour of woods at ed_m0X.tga files, it seems to me too sharp, perhaps making it a bit chequered would be more pleasant to eye.
Highways and roads and railways on these maps woud be, perhaps, better and simpler to make by their extraction from map_T.tga file, than drawing by hands, as it was perhaps done.

The roads and highways are extracted from map_t. They are accurate, but the colour substitution turned out to be a little sloppy. By the time I did the 2D maps, I just wanted the project DONE and was not aiming for artistic perfection.

The population took me WEEKS. It's done by cut and paste from templates which were deleted at the end of the process.

I'm glad the map d/l-ed successfully and I hope people get a lot of enjoyment from it.

Хорошая карта.

Только аэродромы бы травяные = крашеные зеленкой бетонки из первого Ила заменить на что-то типа с карты Бессарабия. А вот крупномасштабную карту наоборот лучше приблизить к топографическим как раз из родного Ила.
